Emily Buchbinder’s practice focuses on estate planning (Trusts, Wills, Durable Powers of Attorney, Advance Health Care Directives) for individuals and couples with estates of all sizes. In addition, she has extensive experience in probate matters, trust and estate administration, business law, and tax.

Emily is a graduate of UC Berkeley, Brown University, the Defense Language Insititute (Japanese), Monterey College of Law, and Golden Gate University. She is a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Law by the California Bar Association Board of Legal Specialization. She has a LL.M. in Taxation (Legal Masters in Laws) and has an AV Preeminent by Martindale Hubbell, as rated by her peers.

Emily is the Chairperson of the Santa Cruz County Bar Estate Planning Council. She is a former Board Member of the Community Foundation of Santa Cruz County, the Santa Cruz Cancer Benefit Group, and Habitat for Humanity. Prior to opening her own practice, she worked at Bosso Williams, the Grunsky Law Firm, and Deloitte Tax.

Emily is a regular speaker on estate planning and taxation. She has presented for the Community Foundation of Santa Cruz County, the University of California Santa Cruz Planned Giving, CalCPA, the Rotary Foundation, and various community and business organizations.

Emily is an avid bicycle rider. She also enjoys travel, exercise, reading, and spending time with family, friends, and her two cats.
